How to prepare for IELTS
Are you preparing to take the IELTS Test? How should you prepare? When people ask this question, they often get the answer " practise, practise, practise! " This is bad advice! Doing practice tests is important, but it is not enough. So here are some other things you should do: 1. Improve ...

Re: can you suggest grammatical structures that i could incorporte in my essays ?
I've written a blog post about this. Here is the link http://ieltscharlie.com/ielts-writing/ielts-grammar-tips/ Here's a summary: 1. Use subordinating conjunctions Join clauses with: e.g. because, so that, although, while, whereas 2. Use relative clauses Don't write "The cat was sitting on the ...

Re: Which one is correct?
They're both grammatically correct. "Turn the switch on" is using the verb "to turn" - "on" is being used as a prepositional adverb - it's telling you where to turn the switch. "Turn on the switch" is using the phrasal verb "to turn on" - "on&qu...

Re: IELTS testing centres in order of time zone
Hello all, I'm not sure if I understand it correctly. Are there testing centers that have the same listening, reading, and writing parts when held on the same day :o --for confirmation to this subject above wrote by Zenicanka..it is true? I don't think anybody here knows the answer for sure. IELTS ...

Re: Will remark will reduce the current mark?
AFAIK, no, the score won't reduce. IELTS / BC / IDP are a bit vague on this. Note: I've edited my previous post which said that scores could go down. I cited this page: https://support.cambridgeenglish.org/hc/en-gb/articles/202838326-Re-marking-your-exam-Results-Enquiries-and-Appeals However, that p...

Re: Revaluation
I know it's a bit late, but there may just be time to apply for a re-mark if you haven't done so already. EDIT - I've just noticed the original post is from February 2015, not 2017! So it probably is a bit late now ;) But I'll leave my comment up in case it helps anyone else. First of all, my unders...

Re: IELTS task 1 best resource youtube/web
Yes, you must write an overview paragraph in Academic Task 1. If you look at Band 6 and Band 7 of Task Achievement, the overview is mentioned there. It's not mentioned in Band 8 or Band 9 because if you don't present a clear overview, you don't go above Band 7.
Hope this helps!

Re: Please assess my IELTS General Task 1 - Thank you for the feedback...
Hi It's quite a nice introduction, although I think you need to start addressing the 3 points more quickly - it's 45 words before you get to the first point, so you have less time to respond to the 3 points in detail. Task achievement is good, although you could add more detail on the 2nd and 3rd po...

Stop Practicing and Start Reading!
If you're stuck at the same band score, despite lots of practice and lots of tips, it's probably time to stop practising IELTS. The reasons you're stuck at the same band score is probably because you don't have enough vocabulary. So if you find yourself stuck at the same IELTS band score, stop study...
