Hello world,
I will introduce myself saying that I'm a chemistry student and I'm going to take the IELTS next friday/saturday in order to pursue my Master's degree in organic chemistry next year. I'm aiming for band 7.
I didn't have much time to prepare for the exam itself, just about two weeks overall, so if you post any reading or video that you consider a must to be able to ace IELTS, would be much appreciated.
I usually score something between 33 and 37 in both reading and listening tests, but I'm not able to grade my writting or speaking skills, I will probably post some texts or recordings on this forum...
In my honest opinion, I think that in order to prepare the academic writing test is reading tons of model answers, more than practicing the writting itself, am I correct?
All the best!
Hey

Hi Organic Chemist
I recommend you to watch this video about strategy of answering reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RPhh4QfaPM
If you finding 33-35 right answer, it is good, but more practice needs to be done.
Good luck !

The strategy described on that video is good, but I don't like it very much... I get better results if I just focus on the questions from the beginning and start sequentially locating the answers throught the text.
I leave the headings for when I'm done with the rest of the kinds of question so when I try to select them I already know the text fairly well, because I read it to answer the question. This was suggested on this Ryan's video by two test takers who aced the exam:

I strongly prefer this kind of strategy, even though is not what I've read in any website or book, it yields better results and that is enough for me.
