Test A

Some people believe that children are given too much free time. They feel that this time should be used to do more school work.
How do you think children should spend their free time?

========================My response below==================

Some people assert that children should be assigned more homework in their spare time. Unfortunately, some other people disagree with it. In my point of view, proper school work with some disposable time benefits more for pupils’ development.

First of all, the homework could consolidate the knowledge learned from the class. Obviously, it is easy for school student to forget the key points mentioned by teachers in the classes. Some exercises help the pupil to recall and summarize what they learn. For example, according to the statistics collected by some education department in China recently, the average graduation examination score for student who assigned 1 hour daily homework is much higher than that never or rarely take any study after school.

In the second place, proper school assignment could develop pupils’ learning habit. It is well-accepted that the children under 10 years old have limited self-control or time management skill. Usually they waste their spare time on playing video games or watching soup opera provided that no homework after school. The case of Chinese famous mathematician Chen Jingrun can be the classical illustration of the view; he told a reporter during an interview that all of his achievement was based on the habit that he was developed during his primary school where he had to spend nearly 3 hours for his mathematics homework.

In conclusion, it is essential for children to take some school assignment in their spare time to consolidate their knowledge learning and develop a good learning habit.

Test B

Nowadays we are producing more and more rubbish.
Why do you think this is happening?
What can governments do to help reduce the amount of rubbish produced?

========================My response below=========================

An increase amount of rubbish is generated in recent years. This behavior is caused by many reasons during the economic and social development. Several solutions are proposed to resolve this issue.

There are some reasons that resulted in trash increasing. In the first place, over packing of goods especially gifts significantly improve the useless material in trash bins. Obviously, proper packing for the gift could make it looks sophisticated and attractive, however, too much material are used for the covering or the boxing than the product itself would produce a lot of waste. According to a statistics collected by Chinese Commercial Department, more than 70% of the materials are used for the packet of the moon-cakes in year 2014. In the second place, food waste is another contribution for the growth of rubbish amount. It is well-accepted that people may order more food that they can afford in restaurant. For example, tons of food waste was dumped into trash truck in the evening of last Spring Festival evening in the Qingdao Lijing great hotel according to a secret inquiry by QTV.

A lot of solutions have been proposed to address this problem. In the first place, government has to revise the law to tax more to the consumers if they purchase the over packing product (e.g. 50% of the weight is for packet). It is definitely that less customers have interest in those products if the price goes up because of the over packing. According to a survey conducted by a local newspaper, 80% of citizens said no to the tea with too complex boxing if the tax doubled because of this. In the second place, the food wasted can be reduced by instructing people order proper food to avoid the waste by public media. For example, a “clean plate campaign” was initiated by Chinese national media CCTV to ask the audience say stop to the food waste.

In conclusion, the increase of trash in caused by different aspects. All of us have the responsibility to work together to eliminate the waste as much as possible to keep the rubbish amount in a reasonable range.
