Preservation of traditional skills and ways of life

When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out. It is pointless
to try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Rapid development of new technologies has large impact on the lives of people. New inventions have made the traditional skill and way of life almost obsolete. Technological advancement is necessary to improve the quality of human life, it is our ability to invent new things and improve gradually which differentiates us humans from other species on the earth.
Earlier during the Stone Age, people were uncouth they used to live in caves and depend on tools made of wood or stone for hunting. They had no mean of communication other than signs and symbols and no way of speedy transport. Gradually new technologies were invented and humans learned to make houses, they learned farming and which helped nomadic groups settle down around rivers, invention of wheel helped in creating carts which was then used for transport. It shows how technical advancements have improved the life of humans. If we look at some of the greatest inventions of 19th and 20th centuries such as invention of telephone, electricity and computers, it has completely changed the way we used to live before them. Obviously our old ways of living life have died, but that has happened for good.
However there are certain traditional skills like sculpture, some traditional styles of painting, and some traditional ways of weaving clothes which are still highly relevant in this modern time too and should be conserved.
In my opinion it’s meaningless to try to preserve traditional skills or way of living life, which are impractical. However those skills which are still relevant can serve as inspiration for new work or educational purpose should be preserved.
