the question is about a friend who's immigrating to Australia and asking for advice in order to enhance his speaking, listening and vocabulary.
"Please suggest a score for my writing"
and here's my response::
Dear David,
Thanks for your letter. Working on your English is a good idea and will help managing your daily routine here in Australia. I'm glad that you wrote to me, as I spent the last year trying different methodologies to get better in English. I would suggest you to consider a few key tips that will help your communication ability.
First, you have to work on your speaking skills, you should try to speak fluently no matter how much mistakes you do in the beginning. I would also advise you to join an English learning group on the internet and practice more.
Secondly, to improve your listening skills you can always watch an English TV news like BBC and keep a CD in your car with some native English discussions and play them all the time.
Another thing you need to consider is to extend your vocabulary. To do this I would advise you to use English-English dictionary and read English newspaper. If I were you, I wouldn't limit myself to certain subjects. I recommend you to read in different subjects and always start with the most common ones in normal daily life.
Finally, I hope my advice was useful. If you do need any help just drop me a line.
All the best,
Ahmed.
