GT TASK 2

4.30 pm Agree/disagree
Technology is becoming increasingly prevalent in the world today. In the not too distant future, technology will completely replace the teacher in the classroom. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

With the proliferation of usage of technology in these days is unquestionable. A convincing argument is that technology may be substituted to teacher in academia. It is however disagreed with the contention. By analyzing the human interaction in class room and customized needs of students would be totally ignored whilst a technology driven teaching aid would be replaced to teacher.
To begin, technological device cannot be interactive with student alike human. Many Scandinavian countries, for example, like Sweden and Norway have introduced highly engineered robots in primary schools as a pilot project to replace teachers, and after few weeks, the authority had to stop as it retarded the teaching process overall. This example illustrate this in point is that robot was not an alternative to human. Indeed, students need humanly interaction with human absolutely.
A further aspect of this thesis is that teaching aids are not responsive to individual needs of particular students. A case in point is that Russian famous Honda Asimov robot failed to be responsive to each student in the classroom, when it was tailored made for this special purpose. From this example, it is proven that every pupil has their own demand that cannot be identified by a robot. Therefore, it is established that technology would not be signaled and supportive as human towards the students in classroom atmosphere in near future.
To recapitulate, a robot type instructor would be totally deficient in the classroom self-motivated and emotional attachment needed to be an helpful teacher and hence, the idea of running a curriculum completely by a machine can be debunked. It is strongly predicted that computer technology will neither be substituted nor even alternative to long-established human teachers in the foreseeable future.

Discussion type Essay

Some believe museums should entertain people, while others believe their purpose is to educate. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Since long, museums represent time, society, culture and so forth through the world. An increasing demand of setting museums are remarkably noticed everywhere for numerous purposes. Some contend that the key motive of museums is to entertain people, where others hold the notion that basic aim of museums is to educate. Both poles of arguments would be elaborated before a reasoned conclusion is decided upon.

A camp of argument believes that museums are to establish for entertaining people. They regiment the idea of offering recreation is the main philosophy of a museum. For example, many famous places like in Paris, Louvre museum is seen everyday thousands of visitors merely to see the famous portrait of “Monalisa” who never be interested to learn anything from this visit or even the Art work of Da Vince. This instance illustrate this in point is that museums are not only recreation but a means of spending leisure time. Thus, the argument concedes that museums have a little space to offer scientific, historical or cultural knowledge to people, but to amuse.

However, another side of coin seems that the primary aim of museums is to offer educational resources. A case in particular is the educational curriculum of Canada, where, visiting historical museums are selective units by secondary students once a year from year 6 to year 10. This instance clearly proves that the purposes of museums are very learning and scholarship. The plausibility of historical places is, therefore, a storehouse of knowledge.

To summerise, both camps of the argument regarding the purposes of museums have been signaled and supported, nevertheless, it is clearly evident that the learning purpose of museums cannot be debunked. Thus, it can be concluded that the aim and intention of museums is gathering knowledge whereas the other idea of recreation remains weak.

The proliferation of technology these days is unquestionable. A convincing argument is that technology may be substituted to teacher in academia.(<--Reword to: "A discussion currently taking place is the possibility of technology replacing teachers in the classroom.") It is however disagreed with the contention.(<--Reword to: "However, there is strong evidence against this possibility.") By analyzing human interaction in class room and customized needs of students would be totally ignored whilst a technology driven teaching aid would be replaced to teacher.(<--I don't understand this sentence.)

To begin, technological device cannot be interactive with student alike human.(<--Reword to: "Firstly, technological devices cannot interact with students like another human can.") Many Scandinavian countries for example, like Sweden and Norway, have introduced highly engineered robots in primary schools as a pilot project to replace teachers. However, after a few weeks, the project was cancelled as it negatively affected the overall teaching process. This example illustrates how robots are not a suitable alternative to humans. Indeed, students need human interaction to achieve academic success.

A further aspect of this thesis is that teaching aids are not responsive to individual needs of particular students. A case in point is a famous Russian robot, Honda Asimov, that failed to be responsive to each student in the classroom even though it was tailor made for this exact purpose. From this example, it is proven that every pupil has their own needs that cannot be met by a robot. Therefore, it is established that technology would not be as supportive as a human towards the students in a classroom atmosphere.

To recapitulate, a robot instructor would be totally deficient in the classroom and hence, the idea of running a curriculum completely by a machine can be debunked. It is strongly predicted that computer technology will not substitute long-established human teachers in the foreseeable future.

Some contend that the key motive of museums is to entertain people, while others hold the notion that the basic aim of museums is to educate. Both sides of the argument will be elaborated on before a reasoned conclusion is reached.

One school of thought is that museums are designed to entertain people. They state that the idea of offering recreation is the main purpose of a museum. For example, the Louvre in Paris is seen everyday by thousands of visitors who merely want to see the famous portrait, “Mona Lisa”. These visitors are not interested in learning anything from this visit or even the artwork of Da Vinci. This clearly proves that the purpose of museums is education. The plausibility of historical places is, therefore, a storehouse of knowledge.(<--I don't understand this sentence.)

To summarise, both sides of the argument regarding the purpose of museums have been discussed. Nevertheless, it is clearly evident that the educational purpose of museums cannot be ignored. Thus, it can be concluded that the aim and intention of museums is to gather and share knowledge, whereas the idea of recreation remains weak.
