TOPIC: some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace.Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake,regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer.
What in your opinon ,should be the main function of a university?

Universities are the last bridge between the students and organizations.Alongwith Knowledge,some universities also cultivates skills in students that are vital for their professional life.I think a good university does the same.It not only delivers good sound knowledge to individuals but also enhances one skills and learning abilities.The main functions of a university includes quality education,knowledge provision,personal growth and finally moulding the student into a respectable and responsible professional.
Firstly when one gets admission in a university,he thinks of it as a final step to his destination.For example,if a student gets admission in medical university ,then eventually on passing out as a medical graduate,he would be expected to work like a doctor.If after graduation ,he fails to act like one ,questions would be raised on his alma mater!
Secondly the art and skills that one acquire during four or five years of university education play a key role in individual's success as a employee.Education without skills is like a bird without wings,one knows how to fly but cannot do it!Similarly an engineering university not only familiarises graduates with difficult concepts of science but also arms one with the necessary tools required to create and experiment.without this skill the growth of technology would come to halt.
To summarize ,I would say that universities course should be designed in such a manner that it caters every need of an individual in workplace be it knowledge ,skill,education or art.A shortcoming in university curriculum would be a deprivation for life.
