Writing task 1- Unemployment rates in UK countries

Post by MissIvy »

Hi everyone,

If possible, please take a look at my writing task 1 and let me know if there's any improvement can be made. Thank you.

The data presents unemployment rates in UK countries between the years 2004 and 2011. The numbers gradually increase over the years through all the countries.

In England, the unemployment rate rose from 47% in 2004 and 2005 to 5.5% in 2006 and 2007. The figure shrunk to 5.3% in 2008; however, it jumped to 7.7% in 2009 and peaked at 7.8% in both 2010 and 2011. Wale’s unemployment rates jumped back and forth erratically from 2004 to 2011 with its peak at 9.1% in 2010 and bottomed at 4.6% in 2005. Similarly, Scotland also has unstable figures from 2004 to 2011. Its unemployment rate is topped at 8.2% in 2010 and hit a trough at 3.9% in 2008. In Northern Ireland, the figures gradually dropped from 4.7% in 2004 to 4% in 2008. The rate, however, swelled to 6.3% in 2009 and stayed at 7.1% in both 2010 and 2011.
