IELTS task2- Do benefits outweigh drawbacks?

Post by Hal »

As global trade increases, many goods, including those we use on a daily basis, are produced in other countries and have to be transported long distances.
Do benefits of this trend outweigh drawbacks?

One of many impacts that result from increasing the global trade is producing diversified goods, which are used day-to-day, abroad and transporting them via long distances. While this has negative effect, I believe that world trade provides countries with great many benefits.

There are many advantages of trade across borders. First and foremost, it supplies developing countries with different products which they cannot make in spite of their application in many purposes. As those nations suffer from scares skilled workers, fund resources, and sometimes basic materials, they can meet their needs to have products that people use every day by importing products from industrial and advanced countries. Moreover, world trade plummets the unemployment rate in the exporting countries. To illustrate, since they have to increase their products quantities, many factories and companies employ larger number of workers in different sectors. Furthermore, this type of trade booms the economy of many nations. For example, prolific increase in trade peaks inflation rates and rise the currency value.

However, global trade has devastating effect on environment, because transporting goods across international borders result in air pollution. For instance, in recent decades, many ships and planes are utilized in transporting process, so huge amount of fuel burns in air and pollute it. As a consequence, the air be gradually saturated with Co2, which cause debilitating respiratory diseases. There is no doubt that this is negative side of that trade, but it does not surpass the positive ones.

In conclusion, because international commerce flourishes, it affects many countries positively. On condition that all countries participate in this trading, their economy will thrive and their improvement will speed up.
