To some people studying the past has little value in the modern world. Why do you think it is important to do so? What will be the effect if children are not taught history?

There is no doubt that majority of today’s respondents consider studying past as it has already outlived its usefulness in the modern world. However, in my view, ignoring the history may bring colossal misunderstandings and the loss of spirituality.
To my mind, there is no best teacher like history. Every single experience that amassed by centuries would be a great lesson for building a brilliant future. If we deprive our children of such opportunity, we will deprive them of their future. Subsequently, this will effect negatively on the upbringing of our offsprings. For example they may lose a sense of respect towards their ancestors including parents, thinking them just as a part of the past.
Moreover, I believe, if children are not taught history, they will make wrong decisions that bring inevitable circumstances. One priceless lesson that history can give to our children is not repeating mistakes of the past. Quite bright instances of this could be World War 1 and 2 or nuclear bombs in Japan. These actions brought disastrous aftermath leaving a big seam in the history.
Another importance of the past is associated with valuable ancient heritages and historical buildings which represent the spirit of the nation. At this point I think, the main effect of ignoring the past would be restricting individuals from being enlightened with rays of the history.
In sum, some people may think history as a subject that robs learners’ time, but in reality, history is a subject that shapes the life of humankind. Abandonment of it can cause many more issues than we expect.
