The bar chart gives information about the proportions of male and female teachers in a range of different educational institutions in the UK in 2010.
As is presented, in three of the six educational settings the higher percentage of the teachers were women. This trend was valid in the pre-school, where almost 100% of the teachers were female, likewise in the primary school where they were about 90%, while in the same two institutions less than 10% were men. In the secondary school there is a slight change, the percentage of men has risen to just above 40%.
In the college the proportions of the male and female teachers were equal. However, in the last two of the observed school types there is significant difference in the proportions. In the private training institute the percentage of male teachers has risen to almost 60%. Moreover, in the university the percentage of male teachers was almost twice bigger than the women, who were about 30%.
To sum up, the percentage of female teachers was higher in the nursery, primary and secondary schools, while in the higher education most of the teachers were men.
