The diagrams below give information about the Eiffel Tower in Paris and an outline project to extend it underground.

The diagrams provide information about the location and structure of the Eiffel Tower as well as illustrate how an underground extension of the tower is planned.

Overall, it is evident from the map that the Eiffel Tower is situated by the River Seine, a few blocks from Ecole Militaire. A chart describes the physical features of the tower while the schematic shows that construction of a five level structure is planned just below the tower.

The height of the tower is 324 meters and it weighs a massive 10,100 tonnes. The first platform is at a height of 57 meters whereas the second platform is situated 115 above the ground level. Moreover, 1665 steps have to be climbed to ascend from the first platform to the second one.

The first level of the underground structure, which would be immediately below the foundation of the tower, would house the ticket office and also provide access to the tower. The ceiling of the first floor would be made entirely of glass. Furthermore, shops and restaurants will be present on the second level while the third floor would have a cinema and a museum. The visitors will be able to park their vehicles in the fourth and the fifth levels. Finally, a pair of lifts will enable the visitors to move quickly between parking and the other levels.
