Some say that music, art and dance are as important as others school subjects, especially at the primary level. Do you agree or disagree?
It is argued that artistic subjects should be included in the school curriculum at the primary class itself as it is important as traditional subjects. This essay agrees with this statement because art classes not only entertain students ,but also assist them to recognize their talents from the young age.
To begin with, including extracurricular subjects in the school syllabus enables the students to identify their skills and build up their career accordingly. This is because children who are talented in the arts may not perform well in academics. Hence, realizing their field of interest at the young age assists them to focus more on that and thereby create a successful career. For instance, in India art classes are a part of school curriculum that would help the parents to identify their children talent and guide them properly.
Moreover, music and dance are a sort of entertainment for students. This may be due to the fact that children get a break from regular boring academic subjects while attending art classes. This would refresh their mind and assist them to concentrate more on study subjects. Moreover, art classes help in cognitive development. For example, a recent study conducted in schools in Finland had revealed that schools which included arts in their curriculum had a greater success rate than others.
To conclude, educational institutions should include art related subjects in their syllabus from the primary level as it assists students to focus more their studies and identify their real talents. It is recommended that the government should take the initiative in implementing this in all schools.
