For a long time, applying corporal punishment by parents as the way to bring up their children has been a debatable and controversial issue. Despite destructive mental and physical effects of this kind of punishment, unfortunately considerable numbers of parents are still using this method to raise their children. I totally disagree with the violent behaviour of these parents.
First of all, this brutal behaviour against children will impose serious physical problems on them. In addition to temporary damage, this violence could be injured the children permanently physically. Unfortunately, many of these cruel methods have been being daily reported all over the world that lead to serious damage such as handicap, amnesia and palsy so that most countries have passed firm and district rules to advocate and defend children rights against their parents’ savage upbringing methods.
Besides physical impacts, this group of parents will influence mentally their children. This kind of punishment causes children not only to lose their confidence and self-esteem but also to feel dispersion that would have destructive impact on their future so that the children would have trouble dealing with problems during their life. As a result, they can not play a useful and significant role in the society. A survey conducted by American researchers reveals that the children who gave corporal punishment during their childhood in comparison to their friends not imposed this type of punishment suffer many drastic mental problems such as serious depression and have less determination and confidence.
To sum up, parents must accept that they are responsible for their children’ future and health and play a key role in succeeding them therefore using and applying the effective and moral upbringing method have significant that should be considered by them.
