How much does it cost to take the IELTS in your country?

I'm sure many of you are familiar with it. It allows you to look up testing details and exam prices for any center worldwide.

I was a little surprised to see that the prices can vary quite a bit from one country to another. For example, it costs £150 to register for the IELTS in the UK but only £93 in India (₹9300).

Are these prices in keeping with your experience? How much did you pay to sit your last exam?

It costs 150 USD here in Vietnam, and rumour has it that it's going to increase to 164 USD in a near future...

You are right,

When I took exam in Australia, I paid 330 AUD, but here in India I am paying only 10050 INR, equal to 195 AUD, almost 40% less.

I think the fees varies because of the varied expenses of other establishment costs such as test centre venue, examiner pay ( varies according to the country), basically running cost of tests.


Hope this gives clarifies why there is such discrepancies.

In Brazil I have paid 500 BRL.
I believe that one of the reason for the price changes are the fee request by the school that the IELTS going to be applied.

I sat for exam both in Sydney and India. There is huge difference in prices. In India(9900 INR) we can write twice for what I paid in Australia($330 AUD). Don't know why the difference.

I paid 145£ when I took the exam in London two weeks ago.

The price in China is 1700 RMB which is about 272 US$.
The price in Hongkong is 1700 HK$ which is about 219 US$.

The price in Hongkong is lower than in mainland China!

I am going to fly to India to take my next exam!
Vietnam could have been a better option if they did not attack Chinese...

It costs US$220 in my home country Indonesia and AUD$330 (GST Free) and AUD$363 (GST Inclusive) in Australia. Whether you pay the GST or not depends on the purpose of the test e.g. GST free if you use it for study or immigration purposes.

This is from April 2014, earlier it was INR 9300.
