Change is the only thing which remains constant in this world. A lot of things have changed over the last twenty years. Major factors which are responsible for this are technological advancements, globalization, urbanization, education and increase in population. The role of traditional male has definitely changed during these many years.
Over the last 20 years, number of cities has increased. With this urbanization change in occupation patterns is clearly visible. Whereas the traditional male was primarily involved in agriculture sector or the government jobs, the modern males are into industry sector. A lot of guys are nowadays pursuing careers such as photographer, chef, music composers, video or radio jockeys, designers, et cetera. This basically is a result of education, awareness promulgated by media and the role models of today's society.
Moreover, the traditional role of male as a head of the family has also changed. As more women are now educated and self-independent, the male dominance is waning. Now, man and women equally participate in family decision making and equally share the responsibility of children and elders. In fact, there are examples in the modern society where the man has taken back seat and the wife is leading the command. There the man's role is to support the wife in her decisions and to take care of the family.
So, in a nutshell, the role of male has positively changed from a conservative to an open minded, having respect for the feelings and aspirations of the opposite gender.
