The increase of tourism is causing environmental problems. What problems it causes and what can we do to deal with these problems?
MY ANSWER:
More and more people like traveling these days, on one hand, this can lead to economic prosperity, but on the other hand, this has some negative impact on the environment. People need to take measures to create a sustainable tourism.
When people visit places of interest and some other interesting places during their trip, they need to have meals outside every now and then, and this creates a lot of rubbish. Some people drop litter everywhere, into the lake, on the track and so on. This will not only cause pollution and degrade the environment, but also will harm the wildlife because some animals may eat the rubbish by mistake.
The increase of tourism also contributes to global warming. People tend to go traveling by car, by train or by air. Especially when they travel from one place to another in the same city, they always take cabs because they're unfamiliar with the public transportation. Some people will drive their own cars or rent one for traveling. All of these produce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, which damages the ozone layer and causes climate change.
To tackle these problems, the local government should make publicity to raise the awareness of environment issues so people will be aware of the consequences of their actions and a law should be established to punish those who drop litter. Also, the amount of people who visit a popular place should be limited, this will help prevent the damage to the environment. In addition, travelers should be encouraged to take public transportation by setting up special routes for traveling or cutting the cost to reduce the use of cars.
Although the increased amount of travelers has harmed the environment, I would argue that as long as people can realize the importance of protecting the environment and take actions, we can achieve a sustainable tourism.
