In today's materialistic world people hardly finds time for themselves and for their families and friends. Many organizations, thus, has started a fixed number of hours culture. Though, In many organizations, employees are made to work for long hours to achieve more in less time. In my opinion, this practice should be encouraged for the betterment of society.
To start with, It is believed that longer working hours plays an important role for any company to success and achieve their goals. But it has been observed that, actually, such kind of working style results into less productive and creative work at the end. For example, people who work twelve hours a day, eventually lose their productivity, where people who work for about eight hours have more energy. This shows that working less hours helps individuals to deliver quality work rather than quantity work.
Additionally, working less hours means less chances of any diseases and high stress level. Take, for instance, More and more young working individuals in developing countries like India and China are suffering from diabetes and cardiac diseases due to long working hours. Since youngsters are spending more time at the workplace, they don’t get time to exercise. As a result, they develop many health problems over the time. Work life balance is another problem faced by overworked employees.
To conclude working overtime has a negative impact on employees and their families. Employers should realize that they cannot increase productivity by asking their employees to spend long hours at the workplace. In fact, stressed out employees are not very productive and cannot do justice to their jobs.
