Write a letter to your penfriend and give them advice on how to improve their speaking, listening and vocabulary.
Dear Joe,
I was happy to read in your last letter that you have decided to carry out your plan moving to Australia. As you have asked me I’ll try to describe to you how I improved my language before moving to Italy.
At this point, it will be difficult to improve your speaking through conversations, so whenever you read and write in English just speak it out loud. This will help your mind to get used to producing words in English.
As for improving your listening performance and vocabulary span it is less difficult but requires plenty of time. You should watch TV series and movies in original language without subtitles and read some original contemporary English literature. If I were you I would create a personal vocabulary with new words I run into and would use an English vocabulary to understand them.
Maybe the most important advice I can give you is to practice as much as you can and try not to worry about the results. Whatever you miss before going away you will be able to complete it afterwards.
Sincerely yours,
Omer
