I have decided to write essays for all historical General Training topics from 2012 to 2014, at least as many as possible.
Below is my first one:
120107 Some people prefer to see live events (such as music and sports), but others think it is better to watch the events on television. Discuss both of the view and give your opinion.
People have different preferences in the way to watch a music or sports event. While some people prefer to watch a event on television, I am with many others who enjoy attending a live game or concert very much more.
There are several reasons why some people like watching a show or game on television. One of the main reasons is the cost. While watching a event on television is almost free, a ticket for a live event may cost hundreds of dollars. Such high price is hardly acceptable for many people. Furthermore, attending a live game or concert involves some negatives like crowds, traffic, noise and standing in line for bathroom. This could be another reason why some people prefer watching a event at their quiet home, snuggling in their cozy armchair.
However, for many others like me, live events are far more attractive and exciting. The best thing about attending a live sports game or concert is being in contact with other fans. For example, in a basketball or football game, cheering and jeering at the same time with thousands of others and being part of the roar rising through the stadium or arena is all what a game is about. This kind of excitement is what those people in front of television cannot get. Another thing that makes watching events live better than watching on television is all the extras that fans can get when they are there in person. When watching a live sports game, there are pre-game warm-ups, pre-game entertainment, halftime shows. For those in a live concert, they may be lucky enough to get autographs from their loved performers or musicians. All these things are impossible for those who watch a event on television and they just get commercials.
To conclude, although there are some people prefer to watch events on television, to me and many others, watching live sports games or concerts is much more exciting and enjoyable.

This could be another reason why some people prefer watching an event at their quiet home, snuggling in their cozy armchair. (<-- Don't forget other benefits - instant replays, close up camera views, commentary, etc.)
However, for many others, including myself, live events are far more attractive and exciting. The best thing about attending a live sports game or concert is being in contact with other fans. (<-- I like this. It is often an overlooked fact.) For example, in a basketball or football game, cheering and jeering at the same time with thousands of others and being part of the roar rising through the stadium or arena is what a game is all about. (<-- The way you describe this is brilliant! I could practically hear the roar of the crowd, and it brought back memories of concerts and games I have attended.) This kind of excitement is what those people in front of television cannot get. Another thing that makes watching events live better than watching on television is all the extras that fans can get when they are there in person. Hi Flick,
I really appreciate the efforts you have made to check and correct all the essays and letters in this forum - of course it includes mine.
I am ever so sorry that I haven't replied and thanked you on each piece of my essays that you have corrected. The reason is that I am quite busy on my work these days,so I have just been trying to learn from your corrections whenever I get some time. I will appear in my Ielts exam within a few days - May 10th. I hope that I'll get my desired score.
Thank you and Ryan for all what you have done for us.
Yours sincerely,
Allen

Hi Allen,
I really appreciate your thanks but it isn't necessary. Learning another language is a huge challenge, and I'm impressed at how well you write.
Good luck for your exam!
