Is the sentence below grammatically correct? do you like it? any alternatives?
People have different views on either countryside or big cities are the best place for children to grow up in.

Because you are comparing two things or presenting two things as alternatives, use 'whether'.
I think 'country' and 'city' should be singular because 'country' can't be plural, and mixing the two is confusing.
Just my opinion. What do you think?
