Question : In some countries governments are encouraging industries and businesses to move to regional areas outside big cities.

Answer.
Industrial production is the main backbone of any nation's economy, so it is important for governments to support factories. Some nation's management are pushing factories and related businesses to shift from urban areas. This essay will analyze pros and cons of such decision.

On one hand, big cities will definitely benefit if industries move to rural areas. For instance, heavy transportation that supply raw material to factories use main road routes of these metropolitan cities. This end-up in massive traffic jams and congestion on roads. Secondly, mostly industries do not dispose off their waste properly. These un-managed waste infiltrate water supply system. For instance, factories in Faisalabad, cotton production city of Pakistan, do not properly manage their waste despite the fact that government waste management policy exist. Thus underground water resources of the city got chemical containment and no more use-able for drinking. Disadvantages of having industries in cities can be seen.

On other hand, industry provides jobs to the people of big metropolitan cities, Labor intense industries are always in need of skilled labor and big cities have such workers in abundance. If factories move to rural areas, they could not find skilled workers in nearby small cities or labor have to commute long distance for work. This will lead to economic turn down. Secondly, it is easy for industry and businesses to manage infrastructure available in Urban areas so they can afford competitive prices of their products in international markets. For example, the overhead cost will definitely increase if businesses have to develop basic structure for their production. thus the benefits of having industrial zones in cities are certain.

In conclusion, it is true that cities may face some problems if they host factories. However, industry and business is the symbol of economic growth of every nation and metropolitan cities need them to prosper in future. It is thus proven, that advantages of having factories in cities outweigh disadvantages.
