Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree. What other measures do you think might be effective?
In today’s world, climatic changes, and melting ice burgs and rising sea level became huge concerns for individuals as well as for governments throughout the globe. For certain individuals, hiking fuel cost is best method to solve air pollution and increased traffic on the roads. According to my perspective, rapid increase in the fuel price might have few benefits, but there are other measures that can prove more effective.
Firstly, petrol price has been increased by nearly one hundred percent in last decade; ironically instead of reduction in vehicles, we have seen the enormous growth in vehicle occupancy in particular time period. Secondly, sudden steap in fuel pricing is directly proportional to high prices of consumer goods ; It is a general believe that cars and other personal vehicle like motorcycles are major cause of air pollution ; but heavy transport vehicles like trucks and lorries which consume ten times more fuel and cause way much pollutants in air. Sudden hike in fuel price will increase transportation charges which will finally results in unaffordable daily goods.
However, instead of making fuel very expensive, governments should launch complain regarding using of public transport. If common individual commute by bus or a train there is one less car on the road. Secondly, if common man realize how much he can save by taking public transport instead of personal vehicle and how much he can contribute to mother earth, we might see a drastically change scenario.
Furthermore, most of the railways presently using electricity as energy source. If government focus more on goods caring trains for transportation of raw material as well as finished goods, then major consumers of fuel and major air pollutants get reduced from the roads.
In conclusion, I strongly don’t agree that increasing in petrol price is any answer to the problem. However, if government make use of public transport compulsory for everybody for certain level and uses more trains for transportations purpose, we might see very less crowded streets and feel less polluted ecosystem.
