Q:
Some people think that environmental problems should be solved on a global scale while others believe it is better to deal with them nationally.
Discuss both sides ad give your opinion
A:
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the environmental matter has been a controversial issue. This can be seen through the ongoing debate on the responsibility of dealing with the environmental problems. According to one camp, it is believed that the problem is universal, so it has to be solved on a global level. According to the other, some think that it is better for each country to deal with its own issues. Both sides will be critiqued prior reaching an informed conclusion.
Today it is a common belief that the consequences of environmental issues will affect everybody on the earth, not only the country that carries out the harmful practices. For example, pollution caused by a particular developed country in Europe may have a damaging effect on a poor developing country in Africa. Thus, it is easy to see why this argument has garnered a lot of support.
On the other side, it is felt by some that each nation has to bear the responsibility of handling the results of its environmental hazardous actions. However, the trouble happens here and there, the cost of fixing this massive damage is easier to be controlled on a local prospective. For instance, in many Europe countries, Finland in particular, they have implemented extreme restrictions on environment-harming practices, and it was deeply effective and beneficial for local economy as well as the nature. Therefore, this theory is difficult to be debunked.
After analyzing these two points of view, it is clear that the issue is much massive to be assigned to an individual nation to solve it separately. In addition to the fact that, it is a common affair that impacts all of us. I hope that global society should react more seriously with the matter.
