Many would agree that television is helpful for education, whereas others would argue that it is used for entertaining people. It is agreed that although some channels assist people to widen their horizon, most of the program designed for common people.

on the one hand, it is argued that media is helpful for educating young people. For instance, History and Discovery channel are playing a pivotal role in educating pupils about biodiversity and ancient history.
This broadcasting uses a 3-dimenssional technology and some may find it interesting to learn from the television outside of the classroom. For example, BBC wildlife documentary is one of the popular programs on television, which teaches many academic disciples that can not be learned in school. However, these programmes are designed for highly educated people and common people find it little interesting.

On the other hand, media houses are nowadays running most of the programs keeping the commercial side in mind and producing programmes which attract more views. therefore, many argue that it should consider only as an entertainment network. Most popular shows on TV are comedy, reality and renowned person interviews because companies are targeting wider audience to attain an endorsement deal from the publicity companies and take away from the programs are little. For example, it is estimated that 65% people in India follow prime time serials. These serials are designed to attract women and common people and make people little intelligent. Therefore, it should be considered only for entertainment purpose.

In conclude. Although some programs in television could help educate the people, it should views only has entertainment network because programs are generally produced for entertainment keeping financial aspects in mind.
