With all troubles in the world today, money spent on space exploration is a complete waste. This money could be better spend on other things. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Throughout the years, there has been a compelling desire to get clear knowledge about the outer space which is believed to be full of secrets and mysteries. However, under the current circumstances, I claim it to be a waste of resources although many people wish that space exploration would never stop. This will be proven by analyzing the reasons for considering it a waste of money and presenting some alternatives that are worth spending money on.
As a matter of fact, it is consensual that astronomy requires a massive amount of money to fund the projects carried out at space stations. A leading facility in that field is NASA in the United States that frequently launches rockets and spaceships to discover new planets and solar systems or investigate mysterious phenomena that intrigued various scientists such as the black holes. These achievements, which may seem exceptional for many people, will not likely benefit the inhabitants on the Earth planet where many people may die of hunger in developing countries. Thus, this proves how this activity can be a sort of extravagance.
Therefore, people should think of other fruitful ways of spending their money. An example for these would be donating for charities or funding education in the third world countries. Statistics have reported that a high percentage of people lie below the poverty line, and they barely support their families. If the millions of dollars squandered on space researches were invested in establishing companies and factories, a lot of unemployed individuals would find good job opportunities. In addition, the average wages would go higher. This obviously suggests better ways of investing money.
All in all, after analyzing the negatives of spending money on space exploration and some proposed alternatives, it can be concluded that space exploration is not the best way to spend money on. It is recommended that governments cut back on funding these researches and direct this money to more important projects.
