Space travel has been possible for some time and space tourism will probably be developed in future. Do u think space tourism is a negative or positive development?
People have different views about whether it is likely that tourism industries is predicated on the development of space travel in order to earn more profits. From my perspective, there would be more drawbacks than benefits.
On the one hand, it is argued bay advocates of this idea that mankind can have a deeper understanding of outer space if there are human spaceflights. Onlu after passengers have the chance to explore it with their own eyes, may more attention be placed on this field as space holds little appeal to the public. In other words, this once-in-a-lifetime experience can arouse people's curiosity about astronomy and incentivizef them to broaden their knowledge about this field. Especially children, they may nurture their interests in space exploration and become astronomers in the future, which is huge contribution to society in light of the deficiency in scientists.
That is not to say, however, that its difficulties should be overlooked. Buying extravagant spaceships would place a large financial burden on governments as well as citizens if people were to travel under gravity. In reality, there is little likelihood that governments can afford it because other urgent domestic affairs such as rising unemployments rate ot backward education system need to be more concerned. Even it is an assumption that spacecrafts are affordable, not many people are willing to pay such a high fee to experience the cosmos once. Therefore, the worst-case scenario is that governments can not recover the expenses and go into debts due to the lack of space passengers.
In conclusion, it appears that the positives of space travelling can not mitigate its shortcomings, I thereby believe it is more neccessary to take other vital fields like educationn into consideration.
