Dear Sir David , could you please asses my Essay.

In some countries the average weight of people is increasing and their levels of health and fitness are decreasing.

What do you think are the causes of these problems and what measures could be taken to solve them?

In the last decades, there has been an enormous increase in obesity and related detrimental impacts on the people in many societies. As a result of this, many governments around the world are conducting a lot of researches to find the most effective ways to tackle this problem. This essay will discuss the reasons that led to this trend and suggest some possible solutions.

There are several reasons behind this phenomena. A main reason causing obesity is having less healthy and nutritious diets. Technology has changed the way we live for the worse in a such way that fast foods have replaced our traditional meals. For example, traditional dishes which were prepared by using ingredients containing balanced minerals and vitamins are no longer the regular meals, instead, people eat frequently fast foods which contains too much oil and preservatives.
Such as burgers, pizza and chips. As a result of this, the cholesterol level in our blood will increase and consequently, it will accelerate the likelihood of becoming overweight and eventually suffering from related diseases such as diabetics and cardiovascular diseases. Another major factor influencing this trend is a lack of sport activities. in our modern urban lifestyle where everyone work too long hours to cover his financial commitments we see that people merely devote time in sport activities. To illustrate, If we consume regularly a lot of food which contains a substantial amount of energy without doing any physical activities means that those food ingredients will not be burned but transformed to fat. This may lead to disproportional increase in our weight. Moreover, poverty has deteriorated this situation. In some less developed countries where government’s spending in building recreational facilities are cut, people will just have enough money for food and shelter and therefore, many of those will have a lack of things to do in their own free time. This might result in that those people may get addicted to excessive smoking and drinking which prevent themselves to allocate to useful physical exercises.

Despite all, there are some potential solutions for this problem. Firstly, The government should ensure that adequate sport and leisure facilities in place and enforce effective health policy. Expanding leisure and recreational facilities such as fitness centres, playing ground, swimming pool in every corner of the villages, towns, and cities could have a significant improvement in public health. This means local people will have easy access to those facilities without wasting time and money to commute to those centers, as they will easily be attracted to participate in different sport games in those centres. In addition, unhealthy activities such as drinking and smoking in public designated areas should be banned. Further, individuals should play a crucial role to prevent accelerating this trend. Parents and teachers have moral responsibility to guide their children to the right path. While Parents should teach their children to have healthy diets and encourage them to do physical exercises instead of sitting long time in front of TV or playing computer games, the school must adopt sport seriously in the academic syllabus in order to accommodate children in early age to sport activities.

To conclude, it is clear that obesity and related diseases have become challenging detrimental problems that people face in the last decades. Therefore, both governments and individuals must take measures to prevent this issue.
