Received these in an email:
1) You are planing to go on a trip and you are writing a letter to invite your friend.

in your letter, explain:
a. why you are going on a trip.
b. where are you planing to stay and what you are planing to do.
c. why do you want your friend to come with you.

2) Today, there is too much noise in public places.
- what are the causes of this problem and what can be done about it.

Hi Ryan,

I elaborated on what noise pollution causes(effects) and potential ways to solving the problems caused(solution).

Whereas I believe one is supposed to suggest reasons that causes noise pollution and discuss ways to reduce it.

Will I get penalized here?

Just a stupid question:
It seems that Israel share the same topics as China ans Australia. There is a 6-hour time difference between Israel and China, and a 9-hour difference between Australia and Israel. How BC prevent cheating?

BTW,
I work for an Israelie company in China.

Best regards,
Allen

Thats a good question Allen,

you know in Australia, ielts test is in the morning around 9am start and finish at 12.30 roughly 8am in India, and here they start test at 1pm, which gives 4 to 5 hours of difference. so if someone who post the questions very soon after they finish their test then we can prepare something related to topic.

However, if we do prepare well, then no need to worry about these things.

anyway, best solution is sit and practice.. :!:

That is a very good question, Allen. My guess is that it won't be long before exams are grouped by time zone. A nine hour window would be enough time for a candidate to (1) arrange to have a model essay written and (2) memorize it. I'm surprised preventative measures haven't been taken yet.

Excellent appraoch.
We should encourage all membes to post the questions instantly as they come out the exam room.
They can also sell the questions and answers.

Hi Saiqbali,

That's a good strategy, but you know, Australia has the test centres who conduct test well before other countries.
so if some people would prefer to share questions immediately after the test that could help many candidates the world over.

Let us hope that we get some friends over there.

IELTS 24 APR RESULTS GT Overall 8.5

Dear Ryan,
Your videos and this blog was immensely helpful. I appeared on 24 Apr (India) and scored as follows
L 8.5 R 8.5 S 8.5 W - 7.5

My essay topic was "Nowadays there is too much noise at public places. What are the causes and ways to solve this".

I had elaborated around traffic jams/ processions and suggested fines etc to reduce noise pollution. The only doubt I had even as I left the center was that I failed to list varied public places like malls/theaters etc.
I had developed ideas around causes of noise pollution and way to resolve it. Each para was in a "cause and its solution" format. I am really stumped why I got 7.5 ? I am reappearing on 10th July, but am also considering giving this 24 APR test result for re-evaluation.

can you please advise if I should submit for re-evaluation or have I glaringly left out piece of information, (i.e list of public places) hence penalized. Please help.

i beg to disagree with this idea, because one way or the other this cheating and not strategy..
for me.. learning how to listen, write and speak in English is not because your taking an examination like the IELTS,.. its about getting to know how you use English in a proper manner in which people will understand you as well as you can understand them.

Hi Mhingz,

Sorry to say this.

I don't care about English language , I just need to do to get the points,

Even band 5 candidate is able to survive in an English speaking country, I survived almost 6 years with band 6.

I am talking about ideas how to overcome and to get rid of this barrier to pass the immigration requirements.

If you talk about cheating, then blame the IELTS centre first , who are exploiting students to spend their money.

If you want to study, you can sit and learn for ages, but I want to finish this as quickly as possible, because this is in my way of great future.

I understand language learning is important but it is not necessary that I should learn to score in IELTS, even to learn a language you need a lot of time, I still learning new words in my mother language.

Anyway , thanks for your posting.

Good luck with your exams.

Hi Durai,
My apologies if my words are too strong for you but I think this is sensitive issue and whatever your reasons, I still see it as CHEATING. I don’t want to get into an argument on this because for me, the fundamental strategy to succeed in an examination is just simple logic:
Study+Practice = Success
:D

As I can see, everybody here is a good student and they all worked hard.
I know how much effort Durai has made.

Generally, I believe IELTS is an excellent exam. It indeed represents your language skill.

Also, Australian immigration bureau has its reason to request 4*7 or 4*8 on IELTS. They use it to choose the best guys who can get a high band on IELTS. Achieving 4*7 or 4*8 means that you are a good learner and a dedicated person - not just language!

No pain no gain! You all gonna make it bro; we are the best !!!!

I totally agree with you, im sure everyone here works hard!
What really puzzles me is when i see people like durai who condone the idea of routing for a "short cut" despite his effort. Probably out of frustration i guess.
