The diagram demonstrates the life cycle of a salmon, starting from eggs into an adult fish.
Commencing from incubation in rivers, after a certain time, the emergence of young salmons occurs. Then, they live in the freshwater river, the place where those young salmons were born, for a particular amount of time. Later, they move to the estuary and continue their estuary rearing. Afterwards, they migrate to remote rearing areas in the ocean in which they gradually grow and eventually mature. When it’s time to breed, the adult salmons move back to rivers in which exist their spawning areas. Thereby, the adult species reproduce and lay eggs and thereafter, the life cycle begins to rotate again.
In conclusion, the life cycle includes overall 8 stages, ranging from egg release to becoming an adult fish. In addition, they spend their lifetime in two different areas, namely rivers and oceans, in which separate distinct sections of their life cycle take place.
