It has been claimed that workers over 50 are not responsive rapidly changing ideas in the modern workplace and that for this reason younger workers are preferred. To what extend do you agree or disagree?

The dynamism in the modern world has brought assertion to some people that employees over 50 are no longer able to meet the changing demands in their workplace. Given this context, concern has been raised that it is better to employ younger than older people. Although there are convincing arguments on both sides, I firmly agree that companies should look for younger employees.

One argument put forward in favor of younger employees is that older people act slowly, think gradually and have more personal issues such as family problems that might alter their work. What’s more, Psychologists seems to be in agreement that memory dwindles with age. In the modern era, computer programming is prevalent and it is crucial to be able to work with so much information, number and calculations, thereby, yields more edge on youngsters.

Flexibility is also an important feature that older people lack. For instance, it is customary that in a company, modification in planning, concept, and ideas are bound to happen any time. Young employees, without doubt, can easily and quickly cope to the changes given by their employers primarily because their body are young, so can adapt faster as opposed to aging workforce. As a result, businesses will definitely experience an exponential growth in their sales.

In addition, while old people have more work experience, which undeniably plays a pivotal role for the success of a company, it is never been a hindrance for young employees. As a saying goes, “Experience is the best teacher,’’ however, it does not mean that youngsters cannot do well in their jobs due to lack of experiences. Continuing education and doing research about the lives of popular persons can absolutely build up the overall performance of a company.

All in all, young employees are more preferred and are the backbone of any company because of their ability to cope easily to the changes in their work and their zealousness to thrive.
