There are different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?
It is true that the increasingly popular music of different types is putting forward more influences on individuals’ lives. People listen to both traditional and international music as a way of entertaining themselves as well as interacting with others.
Nowadays, music has infiltrated every aspect of the modern world. It has become an indispensable part of our lives that almost all people consider that listening to music is a rather effective method to entertain and relax. Depending on the types of music people listen to, a person can be motivated by the energetic rhythms which are embedded in many pop songs, or achieve inner peace by enjoying some traditional songs which feature beautiful landscapes in nature. Additionally, information dispersal through utilising music is sometimes more efficient than using a specific language. The well-known song “The Earth” plays a vivid example here. With the increasing popularity of this song around the world, more people realise the importance of environment protection, which strengthens the determination of many countries to make our planet a better place to live.
In my opinion, international and traditional music share equal importance but they serve different purposes. More specifically, it is often the case that cultural legacies and traditional lifestyles of a country are incorporated in this nation’s conventional music. Residents of such countries keep singing and listening to songs composed by their ancestors as a means to preserve their cultural identities and to express respect towards their history. On the other hand, popular international music serves as a platform on which not only different thoughts and ideas could be conveyed, but also people could be brought together to improve the environment we live in. As seen above, both traditional and international music play equally crucial role in people’s lives.
In conclusion, music, regardless of its type, is an essential instrument with which people can amuse and relax themselves. More importantly, as pivotal media for conserving cultural legacies and improving interaction between people at a global scale, the value of both the traditional and the international music cannot be underestimated.
