As most people spend major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual well-being. What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?
Nowadays, working is becoming increasingly major part of our life. When we working, job satisfaction stands in the first place and is unrealistic to expect that all workers have to be satisfied with their job.
There are several criteria to be taken into account when choosing a work that serve to job satisfaction. First one is challenging job that people tend to work in this job using different skills rather than predictable job.Another factor is task identity.Workers are satisfied with their job when feeling they are able to complete task than just doing a part of it.Jobs are more satisfying if workers feel that task is making a contribution to the organization or community.Furthermore, being able to use their initiative and making decision is more satisfying than being told what to do.Finally, feedbacks play a pivotal role in undertaking of task.Positive feedbacks make people feel that they are valued and their works are meaningful.
There is no doubt that expecting from all workers that they are satisfied with their job is absolutely meaningless. It is sometimes argued that people have to cover all expenses of their life by working even though in harsh conditions.By contrast, some people prefer to work just for a sense of accomplishment. In order to be able to meet cost of living many people are forced to choose unsatisfied jobs that this case is completely normal in todays world.
To sum up, it seems to me that people should be careful when choosing a job prospects in terms of satisfaction in the future.
