hi all,

I attempted IELTS first time on 10th May & my results are:
L: 8
R: 7.5
W: 6.5
S: 7

I need 7 in all. now i'm planning for second attempt, but british council has next exam available directly on 19 July. And IDP on 21 June.

What is the difference between British council & IDP exams? any significance for Australia migration?

Hi Asmi,

The IELTS is a heavily standardised testing system. Taking your exam through the British Council or IDP Australia will not have any effect on your score.

I am not an expert on the Australian migration process, but I can tell you there is no added value to taking the exam with either organization. Band 7s scored on an exam administered by the British Council are valued no differently than band 7s scored through IDP Australia.

I've booked ielts test with IDP on 21st June.

Last time i missed 7 in writing because i ran out of time

now i need to practice more for writing.

I appeared in Ielts IDP on 24th May and got my result today. I have got 8 in reading, 8 listening, 7 speaking and 6.5 in writing. Previously I had taken it in 2009 with British council and I got 7 each in all 4 modules, then in 2011 and i got 7 in all except speaking where I got 7.5. Now am wondering whether to go for Reevaluation or not as I need 7 in writing also as I have got the required 7.5 Band overall but only issue is 6.5 in writing. Kindly advice me what to do now?
