In many countries today insufficient respect is shown to older people. What do you think may be the reasons? What problems might think this cause on the society?

Over the last decade, the number of old people has significantly increased the world over. In the meantime, the individuals are giving insufficient respect to old generations in different parts of the globe. This essay will analyse the causes and problems associated with such trend.

To begin with, there are many reasons why people disrespect elderly. The prime reason is the change in the human behaviour. For instance, in India, some older people seek help for living from the aged care facility due to misbehaviour from their family. This is because old persons are considered as a financial burden to their family, and as a result, they are not given enough respect by their family members. From this example it is clear why there is a lack of respect for elders.

Disrespecting elder people would pose deleterious effect to the society. One of the significant problems is the discrimination among people. Take Australia, for example, many teenagers are behaving badly to their parents. This is a reflection of parents who are not respecting their elders. If this continues for a while, sooner or later, this country would have more number of discriminators than any other country. Thus, it is clear there will be a negative effect if elders are shown insufficient respect.

From this essay, it can be concluded that altered human behaviour is the main cause of disrespecting elders, and the result is the discrimination in the society. In my opinion, all the governments have to take some stringent measures to solve this issue at the earliest.
