The line graph illustrates the usage trends among the most common search engines in the US. Three popular search engines (Google, Microsoft and Yahoo) are covered in this survey in the period between 2009 and 2011. Overall, two search engines showed significant changes in their popularity level, while the other one kept the same level.

On 2009, Google's search engine was used by 42% of the people - much less than Microsoft's. However, two years later, their site became the most popular way to look for information over the net with over 60% unique visitors.

Opposed to Google, Microsoft's search engine usage had dropped down drastically. Sixty percents usages on 2009 decreased to forty percents on 2011. De facto, Microsoft became the least popular search engine whereas 2 years before it was the most common one.

Yahoo's search engine kept on 2009 the same popularity level as 2 years before with 42% each. Due to Microsoft's popularity drop, it became the second most used search engine.
