Task-II
Watching TV is an effective way of educating children. Children should be encouraged to watch TV regularly at home and at school. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this?

There are numerous means of educating a child. Television is one of the ways of teaching children. However, its scope is very limited in this respect. It is disagreed that watching television is an effective way of educating children and they should be encouraged to watch television regularly. This will be shown by analyzing the fact that many TV channels brought information which is irrelevant for children and television cannot take the place of teachers in the classroom.

Very often, information acquired through television is irrelevant and it leaves an everlasting impact on a child’s mind. For example, when a child watches thrilling and violent movies on the television, he tends to imitate the same. This would make him more aggressive in nature. Thus in this case, instead of imparting education, television injects an aggression in a child’s mind. It is clear from the example that the use of television for education is quite limited.

Television cannot be used in the classroom in place of teachers for education purpose. The reason is that teachers can cater the needs of their students as well as motivate them. Television cannot facilitate children in learning new things in the same way as teachers can do. In other words, television cannot motivate children and make them more disciplined. Hence, the use of television in place of classroom teacher is rather impractical.

After analyzing the aspects of knowledge gained through television and its role as a mentor, it has shown that television cannot be used effectively in educating children. Children can rather watch television for entertainment in their leisure hours.
