Opinion is divided about whether it is worthwhile investing in tourism industry in order to boost economic growth. Undoubtedly, promoted tourism industry contributes to the local economy, and I think boosting tourism would play an important role in the development of national economy as well.

There are clear issues to be aware of in spending money on tourism industry, including the question of whether the tourism would cause adverse effects to the local environment and culture. Environmentally, excessive building may destroy natural habitats and spoil the landscape, which this enables them to create pollution and waste. What is more, local traditions may be lost when it comes to improving tourism industry. For example, traditional jobs such as farming and fishing might disappear and their workers are forced to work in the tourist industry by local authorities.

On the other hand, the tourism industry plays a primary role for the development of the local economy. For example, the expansion of tourism industry would lead to increasing the number of tourists. This means that the investment needed to build the tourist facilities such as hotels and entertainment would create employment and prosperity on account of for goods and services, which enables unemployment to be reduced, which helps to improve the standard of living. Therefore, that is a driving force of the economic development of an area.

In conclusion, there are convincing arguments both for and against investing tourism industry, but I am sure that we should consider them as an important engine in the country against economic recession.
