What do you think are the advantages of repeat driving test? Do these outweigh the disadvantages?
Recently, there is no doubt that, as far as traffic is concerned, rising cars have caused more accidents. Although regular driving tests are beneficial, I am against the idea that they could totally prevent rising accidents on the road in the near future.
Taking regular driving tests might have a couple of advantages as follows. Firstly, Periodic tests may be useful for elderly people. For example, although elders have experience, they might misjudge driving situations. This means that it enables them keep in shape by caring out driving test. In addition, people who do not drive regularly can have an opportunity to stay up to date with new driving rules because the road rules are occasionally changed or cancelled. Therefore, taking regular driving tests might be able to get stability on the roads.
However, I do not think it is possible that rising accidents could be checked by taking regular driving tests. This is because it is clear that the government has difficulty in controlling a lot of people who have driver license. Since the number of drivers is continuously increasing each year, it is hard to monitor drivers. What is more, economically, this policy would not be practical for us to deal with rising cars. For example, regular tests can cause a waste of time and money for drivers. Drivers not only have to find time but also wait for tests. To practice the test, we may call for more taxes as well. Therefore, this policy could lead to much more loss than profit.
For the reasons mentioned above, I would argue that the drawbacks of taking regular driving tests outweigh its benefits because it could not solve the problem of accidents. We should find a primary cause to prevent them.
