Nowadays we are producing more and more rubbish. Why do think this is happening? What can governments do to help reduce the amount of rubbish produced?

Since the inception of industrial growth, amount of waste produced on earth has increased. This is not only affecting our surroundings but also bringing negative impact on earth’s environment in recent years. Various reasons behind this increase in waste and government’s role in controlling the rubbish produced will be discussed in this essay.

Our lifestyle has dramatically changed in recent years. Few centuries back, people used to live a simple life in villages and amount of waste produced was comparatively less. Waste, which produced was used in an effective manner. For instance, cow dung is still used to build temporary houses in villages. On the other hand, in cities due to complexity of life, certain modernized household items such as plastic bottles, polythene bags and paper have contributed a lot to this increase in waste. Moreover, industrial advancement in recent past has also resulted in producing huge wastes.

In this situation, government’s role in reducing the amount of waste produced is very important. Firstly, government should increase awareness about detrimental effects of producing rubbish. In this way, people would be made more responsible for controlling waste at individual level. Secondly, government should encourage the use of items such as plastics which can be recycled. All non biodegradable items should be strictly banned and fines should be imposed on their users. Lastly, for controlling the waste produced from factories, government should implement strict policies in monitoring their waste disposal system.

It is true that the amount of waste we are producing has increased in recent years, but it can be controlled through sincere efforts from governments.
