Task-II
Some people believe that children are given too much free time today. They feel that this time should be used to do more school work.
How do you think children should spend their free time?
Owing to the growing competition, children are forced to study hard by parents and teachers in order to get good grades. Nowadays, children are much overburdened by studies due to increasing complexity of the educational curriculum. Yet, some people believe that children should devote their free time in school work. In my opinion, this would bring more harm than good to their capabilities. Instead, children should be encouraged to participate in activities which help to keep them fit and healthy. Moreover free time should be invested in personal development and grooming of a child.
Physical activities such as sports are equally important to studies. Children should take some time out of the studies to involve in games like football, hockey or cricket. This will not only help them to relieve the stress of studies but has an added benefit of keeping them smart and healthy. Moreover, team games help to develop social ties among children of similar age group. Interaction with others in a play field brings confidence in their personality and helps them to grow mentally.
Children should invest their free time in reading non-academic books and literature. It is important for their mental growth and nourishment of their language skills. Through literature, children are able to learn about ones culture, society and creed. This is also necessary for reviving the traditional values of a society which are under a severe threat due to the massive influence of foreign media capturing the minds of our young generation.
It has shown that nowadays children could hardly spare time from school work due to competitive environment. Whenever free time is available, it should be spent wisely in activities which are beneficial for physical and mental growth of an individual.
