NOWADAYS MORE PEOPLE ARE CHOOSING TO LIVE WITH FRIENDS OR ALONE RATHER THAN WITH THEIR FAMILIES. THIS TREND IS LIKELT TO HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON COMMUNITIES.

TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH THIS OPINION?

From history, it was known that most family members often frown at events that keep away from their relatives. The present day inclination among people to dissociate from them seems to threaten this age long custom. It is agreed that this trend will likely have a negative impact on communities. This will be established by considering the loss of affection in homes as well as increase in the cost of living.

Firstly, individuals who live with friends or alone will create a disconnection from their family members which in turns leads to lack of love and unity in such family. For example, I had to relocate to another community after high school to work in a company, thinking I could use the cash I got to benefit my family. However, I could read the lack of passion my siblings showed to me till date whenever we meet. Thus, living alone or with friends reduces love and togetherness in a family leading to bad effect on communities

Secondly, this trend will make these persons to seek accommodation elsewhere with a subsequent increase in cost of living following high demand. The high cost of living in some urban centres like Lagos, Nigeria, has been linked to this innovation. As a result, the negative impact of this trend on communities cannot be overemphasized.
Summarily, this new innovation of dissociating from families and living alone or with friends is strange to the known custom of love, tolerance and unity, and will have negative implications on societies. This trend must be checked before it is deep-rooted.
