Question: Do you agree or disagree. Research show that overeating is as harmful as smoking. Therefore, advertising of certain food products must be banned like smoking adverts
Nowadays, new restaurants and food chains are becoming common and food business has become a grooming business. Most of the restaurants are attracting more and more peoples through advertisements and deal packages. It is believed that advertisement of certain food items should be banned. This will be argued on the basis of diseases which are caused by overeating and due to expensive food at restaurants.
Firstly, advertisement cause people to consume more food and consequently become overweight. Overweight is the main cause of major life threatening diseases. Take for an instance heart attack which is caused by over weight. Similarly diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure are also caused by overeating. Therefore banning advertisement will cause less number of people to overeat and ultimately there will be a decrease in number of cases related to life threatening diseases. Hence after analyzing the above example it is obvious that advertisement of certain food items must be banned.
Secondly, food at hotels is too expensive and it is a waste of resources. For example, it takes millions of rupees to develop and publish a TV commercial. As well as huge resources are pour into marketing campaign. At the end of the day all these expenses are beard by the consumer of the food in the form of huge bills. Therefore, consuming food at hotels is wastage of resources. Hence, it is clear that advertisement related to specific food items should be banned.
In conclusion, overweight complications due to overeating as well as wastage of resources, advertisement of food items is harmful to society. It is agreed that advertisement of food items should be banned permanently. It is recommended that awareness program related to overeating should be started and new policies should be made for advertisement related to food products.
