Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of society in which they are sold.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that in today’s world advertising plays a pivotal role in many businesses in terms of selling products in large amounts. Also, as advertising has become a bedrock of high level of sales of popular consumer goods, sale rates are not dependant on needs of society. I completely agree with this statement.
Obviously, advertising campaigns aim either to tempt consumers to buy their products, or to sway opinions of people towards a particular type of goods. This case is more common for foods, drinks, etc.For instance,in most commercials produced for PEPSI,FANTA or Coca Cola, the drink is presented in very attractive way that even an individual is not thirsty ,he or she would tend to buy this product.
Furthermore, many companies try to create a strong rivalry among customers in order to increase the level of sales. This tendency is occurred more frequently in companies which produce information technologies or in automotive industries where brand cars are sold to personal buyers. A good example of this is IPHONE or Samsung.Marketing managers of these companies always promote their products by glamorous commercials which demonstrates its technological features such as huge memory, pixels of cameras. As a result,we can say that either IPHONE or Samsung is very prominent smartphones in almost every country. This is not because of that people truly need these phones, but ,indeed,it is power of advertising.
To sum up,it is indeniable fact that advertisements are the main cornerstone in every business structure and people choose products according to how famous they are, not for their true need.
