Question: Television has a negative effect on personality development among young people. Do you agree or disagree?

Television has been widely watched in the last few decades. Children are getting more and more attracted to watch television especially with the new technologies of producing high definition movies and cartoon series. It is agreed that television watching is having a negative impact on young people. This will be proven by analyzing how watching television can decrease the attention span in children as well as lead to deterioration in their social skills.
Firstly, watching television for long duration each day can lead to decease in the attention span. For example, the child will not be able to concentrate with his/her parents or teachers for a full length of a sentence and he will be distracted easily with any surrounding sound. This was observed and proven in studies done on children by experts. Therefore, the recommendation by pediatricians is to limit the television watching hours to 2-4 hours every day.
The second reason why parents should limit the television watching hours is the effect of it on children’s social skills. For example, a child who is watching television most of the time during the day will have less time to communicate and interact with his/her parents, brothers and sisters. Thus, their social skills will not be comparable with other socially interactive children who spend most of their time in family activities. This has a negative effect on children’s personality development.
Following the analysis of decrease attention span as well as poor social interaction in children watching television, it is clear that television watching has a negative effect on personality development among young people. Therefore, it is recommended to limit the number of hours for children to watch television and to involve them more in social activities.

Seems that no body from the teachers in the forum is interested in looking at our essays!
I'm posting the final corrected version of my essay (corrected by my teacher Carol). Thanks Carol.
