Topic: Should children go to nursery school prior to their primary school studies? Share your personal example in your essay if applicable.
In most countries today, children attend some form of preschool before engaging their studies at primary school. It is clear that nursery school prepares children effectively for their elementary school studies. This will be demonstrated this by looking at how preschool familiarizes children with the study routine and teaches them to participate in a larger social circle than their immediate family.
For one, by attending nursery school children get used to the routine of going to school on a daily basis and accomplishing school tasks in a responsible manner. It is commonly agreed that people tend to resist change, especially young children who have not yet developed a sense of purpose. Changing from a mostly home based routine to attending primary school can be challenging for many children. Children who did not attend any form of preschool are at risk of falling behind in their studies and nursery school can narrow this gap.
In addition to this, preschool provides an environment where children can interact with others of similar age, which becomes enormously helpful at the primary school stage. Studies have revealed that children who did not attend preschool have a greater chance to feel isolated in elementary school, which not only makes school a much less enjoyable experience, but can also have a detrimental effect on their performance and success. Results of these studies show obvious benefits of children attending preschool.
According to this view it can be concluded that nursery school has great benefits in preparing children for their primary school studies, and allowing children to embrace their schooling experience at its fullest. Hopefully children all over the world have the opportunity to attend preschool before starting their first grade.
