Some fast food restaurants and supermarkets support the school in order to promote their products. Is it positive or negative development for school and students ?

In today's world, in the food industry, there is fierce competition to increase profit. It is growing cause for concerns as we see massive advertisements on media (e.g., newspapers, the internet, television and etc.) promoting their products everyday. It is a greater concern when fast food restaurants and supermarkets targets schools and pupils to promote their products.

People turn to fast food take outs because it is time saving and you can get food instantly and, indeed, its cheap. Supermarkets nowadays, sells microwave or ready-made food. Parents are easily lured to the product because it is so easy to prepare, you just popped it into the microwave for a few minutes and ready to serve. Schools on the other hand, becomes attracted to the aforementioned products because they need to feed a lot of mouths. Preparing fresh and nutritious food requires a lot of time and money, resorting to ready-made food is a much easier choice. Also, there are no strict rules for schools to adhere to with regards to health and well being of their students. Education is also a business world.

Looking at the growing number of obesity among young children and adolescents, the figures has increased for a number of years now. It is worrying when we think about the health of this your generation. At this age, when they are still growing, their body needs a balance of nutritious diet to carry out daily activities. Fast food and frozen food, contains high salt, and high of the bad calories. Imagine at the very young age, we feed them with unhealthy food, what would become of them in the future? The risk of heart disease and diabetes no longer a disease preserved for the old and geriatrics. It has now a broad spectrum disease for all ages.

It is sad to watch how our young minds corrupted by the age of advertisements. Government should answer to the cry for concern by the public and should scrutinize the food industry. Strict rules and regulation should be uphold and follow if some still desires to resort to fast and ready-made food products. Regulation for fast food restaurants owners to take care on food handling and preparation and only use fresh products. Moreover, supermarkets too should only sell fresh and reliable products for consumers.
