SAMPLE ESSAY (Please post your comments. Thank you so much!)
For a majority of the world's society, it is a given fact that having a job is virtually imperative in order to support one's subsistence for living. However, a growing number of population nowadays are finding ways to increase their earnings by having more than one source of income and pursuing higher education. This essay will detail the two main reasons sited for this phenomena such as the growing need due to technological advancements and pursuit for financial security.
First, the rise of modern technology has a profound effect on what consumers consider as necessary. For example, in the Philippines which is considered the texting capital of the world, basic mobile phones were once considered a form of luxury. Now, one basis for one's financial status is not if that person has a phone, rather, what type of smart phone he is using. This example clearly shows that advancements in technology dictates the public's concept of necessity. Thus since technology is perpetually developing, so as the needs of people.
Second, an alternative source of income provides a fail-safe for many individuals especially now that most of the world's economies are relatively unstable. Take an office employee for instance, who invests 20% of his monthly income in the stock market or a store manager who also sells products online. Employees who have other means of earning aside from their employment would cope better than those who do not. Others make themselves invaluable in their working environment by pursuing higher education that brings about promotion and lesser chances of getting laid off. It goes without saying that many world economies drives people to find ways to be financially secure, therefore, other means of earning and pursuing higher education are ways that are instrumental to help them cope.
To conclude, the growing need to purchase more products due to technological progress and the pursuit for financial stability are the two main reasons why many people look for alternative ways to earn more or make themselves indispensable in the eyes of their employers by getting higher education.
