Question:
Some people believe that teaching children at home is best for a child’s development while others think that it is important for children to go to school. Discuss the advantages of both methods and give your own opinion.
Education is every child’s right and providing proper education is the duty of parents. Today’s children are tomorrow’s citizens, bringing them up as socially responsible people depends on the quality of education given to them. It is up to the discretion of the parents to decide where and how they want to provide the necessary resources to bring about the child’s all round development. Some parents believe in providing these resources at home while some deem it fit that their child goes to school where they get to learn collaboratively with children of their age. In the coming paragraphs we will discuss each of these in detail.
Providing education to a child at home has its own advantages. One can choose any style of education to give their young. For example if a family has migrated to a country for a short period, they can choose home based education for their child and continue on the system of education that the child has been taking until that point of time. So that the child does not encounter any gap or breaks upon returning to the home land. Another advantage of home based education system is that, it can cater to each child’s individual need and pace unlike in school based education.
Studying in a school had umpteen number of advantages as opposed to home based system of education. When a child studies at a school along with about fifteen other kids of relatively the same age, the collective capacity of understanding of concepts that are presented as part of the curriculum is manifold. Also there are boundless ways in which a group approaches an idea rather than a single minded approach. Of course special needs of a single child cannot be attended to at all times but there are many ways in which this can be addressed.
Hence in my opinion, studying in a school has more advantages when compared to studying in a home based environment. Both these systems are effective in their own respects but when a child is educated along with a group of children the collective understanding of the different concepts outweigh the advantages of a single minded approach.
kindly provide your valuable feed back and tips to improve.
