The graphs illustrate the comparison between the type of films and number of cinema admissions between the United Kingdom and Australia for a thirty year period beginning 1975 to 2006.
In 1975, the people watching cinemas in the UK are approximately 100 million, while Australia admitted 20 million. Between 1980 and 1985, there was an estimated 40 million decline in the number of cinema admissions in the UK, while Australia has a minimal increase of 20 million admissions for that period. From 1985 to 1995, the UK and Australia have marked gradual increases in the number of admissions until 2000. However, the UK’s number of admissions was reduced by 10 million, but significantly increased compared with Australia until 2003. In 2005, there was a reduction in the number of cinema admissions in the UK and Australia.
In 2001, the bar graph shows the comparison of the UK and Australia’s market share of the US, the UK, Australian and other films. From the graph, the US films had more than 70% of the market share in the UK and greater than 60% in Australia. The UK Films' market share is 20% in the UK, and less than 10% in Australia. In addition to that, Australian Films obtained approximately 5% of the market share in Australia and 10% in the UK. While other films had almost 20% of the market share in Australia but less than 10% in the UK.
In summary, the UK had more cinema admissions than Australia. Most of the films screened in the UK are American, English, other foreign and Australian Films, which is similar to Australia except for Australian films that are screened the least. In other words, both countries had increase cinema admission over the years, but more foreign films were screened in their respective countries.
